This is our first tournament of the semester. The only team we bring to play is Eauzone, however Breauzone is invited to come and support the fellas, as it’s a great opportunity to see some high-quality gameplay and perhaps see Eauzone play at a high level. Being the first tournament of the semester, there is a lot to look forward to and work on. Since we’re usually stuck inside, Gopher Dome allows us to play on a big field under a dome, which is helpful with our deep shots falling short in the winter. This is usually a test of our skills against teams in our region, Macalaster, CHOP, St. Olaf are all teams in our race to Nationals.
Breauzone hosts the greatest developmental tournament in the region in late March. Takeoff brings together teams that don't get the chance to play at a successful rate at the Conferences level, and is seen as the Superbowl of the develpmental community in the midwest. Schools like UW - Stout, UW - Platteville, Carleton C, and Minnesota C are all great competition for the Breaus, and the vibes are great as SOL and Eauzone show up to cheer on our school.
In the past, Sectionals had the main compettion of UW - Madison, UW - Lacrosse, UW - Milwaukee, and Marquette University. Now that Eauzone has made the move to D3, the teams to beat are Michigan Tech, Wisconsin Platteville, and Carthage College. Eauzone is a very strong team in comparison, and we use this opportunity to hone our skills before Regionals.
This is the biggest tournament for Eauzone, it's our only chance to go to nationals. There are typically two to three bids for the North Central region, and we have to face off against national level teams like Macalaster, CHOP, and St. Olaf. We hope to make Eauzone history with the devoted group of guys we have.
The alums show up thinking they're gonna kick our butts. We show them wrong.
